Step by Step: Build Your Success this Year!

Small simple steps are best to achieve your New Year goals

Did you do a review of last year yet? Don't worry I haven't either.

However, that would be a great first step because yes, it is now a new year and time to get clear and prepare to take on 2024 with new energy.

As the Toyota 5 S Method mentioned in my previous newsletters (which can be found in my blog) let's have fun and create a 5-step plan for 2024 goals. These are more personal goals as opposed to business but the same applies for both.

Setting simple and fun goals can help make the process more enjoyable and increase the likelihood of success.

5 Fun Steps for Your 2024 Goals

1. Reflect on Your Passions and Interests:

Identify activities or areas of your life that genuinely interest and excite you.

Consider what brings you joy and satisfaction, both personally and professionally.

List down your passions, hobbies, or areas you want to explore.

Examples: I love yoga, gardening, cooking, hiking. I want to incorporate more of each this year.

2. Define Clear and Achievable Objectives:

Break down your larger interests into smaller, more manageable goals.

Make sure your goals are specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound (SMART criteria).

For example, instead of a vague goal like "Exercise more," specify "Go for a 30-minute walk every morning."

My current challenge is a quick 5-minute exercise routine that has me doing countertop push-ups and squats. Set the timer and perform each exercise for 30 seconds until the time runs out.

I have set myself up to do this daily after I put my son to bed. I plan to add more short exercises to this plan but I want to be consistent so it is a small step.

3. Make It a Game or Challenge:

Frame your goals as a game or challenge to add an element of fun.

Create a point system or rewards for achieving milestones.

Challenge yourself to complete tasks within a set time or compete with friends or family in a friendly manner.

Awesome Note: Make a cool chart to put on the wall to track your progress. Your family can be your accountability partners. Or build a spreadsheet and share it with a friend who has to check in to see if you are on track.

4. Incorporate Enjoyable Activities:

Integrate activities you enjoy into your goal-setting process.

If your goal is fitness-related, choose exercises or sports you find enjoyable. If you like yoga, Yoga with Adriene is a fun way to begin your practice at home.

If your goal involves learning, pick a topic or skill that genuinely interests you like learning a new language. Duolingo is a fun way to learn.

5. Celebrate Small Wins and Adjust as Needed:

Acknowledge and celebrate your achievements, no matter how small.

Regularly assess your progress and adjust your goals if necessary.

If you find that a particular goal is not as enjoyable as you thought, modify it to better align with your interests.

Remember, the key is to make the goal-setting process enjoyable and aligned with your passions. This approach will help you stay motivated and increase your chances of success.

2024 will be an amazing year with small steps to success.
